Well, it’s here, the iphone 12…. With its 5g, its evil 5g.
It's safe to say 2020 has been a fairly average year for humans, but it's been a wonderful year for new phones, cameras and gaming consoles. This year, in addition to Apple's iPhone 12 lineup, a barrage of other new products have launched or been announced, including the Xbox Series X and PS5, the new Sony A7S iii mirrorless camera, the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and Galaxy S20 FE and new products from Amazon.
Is this because we have all been locked away, locked down, inventing shit. I know there would be plenty of people who wished the new playstation come out before we were all put on lockdown.
5 THINGS YOU DIDNT KNOW ABOUT THE IPHONE 12
IT HAS LIDAR TECHNOLOGY
Lidar — Light Detection and Ranging — is a remote sensing method used to examine the surface of the Earth. Has helped discover ancient ruins, the technique, which uses laser pulses to gather data on the contours of the jungle- and vegetation-covered land, has uncovered other lost ruins at the Maya city of Tikal in Guatemala and a vast network connecting ancient cities of Southeast Asia's Khmer Empire.
It is now in your iphone mate….
Apple improved the camera system on the iPhone 12, adding a new LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) camera. As its name suggests, LiDAR measures the distance from the camera to the objects in your surroundings. The LiDAR camera aids in augmented reality applications and it plays a role in low-light and portrait photography by improving autofocus and reducing capture time. Add in the A14 Bionic chipset, which enables advanced Night Mode photography, and you have an incredible tool for taking photos in the dark.
YOU CAN SEND IT SWIMMING FOR 30 MINUTES
The Apple iPhone 12 series features an IP68 rating, which means it can cop a fair amount of abuse before it starts to fail. The IP in IP68 stands for Ingress Protection, while the 6 indicates protection from particulates like sand and dust. For particulates, the highest rating is 6, and the iPhone 12 has a 6.
The 8 is the waterproof rating, which is measured on a scale up to 9. If you drop your iPhone 12 into water, it can survive underwater for 30 minutes at a depth of up to 6 meters (20 feet). This beats the iPhone 11, which is water-resistant for 30 minutes up to just 2 meters. It also outperforms the iPhone 11 Pro series, which can go down to 4 meters before suffering water damage.
IT CAN MEASURE YOUR HEIGHT
1. Open the Measure app on your iPhone.
2. Point the rear camera at a person who is either standing or sitting and make sure you get their entire body -- from head to toe -- in the frame.
3. After a second or two, a line will appear above their head with an estimate of their height, including items like their hair or a hat.
4. You can take a picture of the measurement with a tap on the shutter button, saving it to your camera roll.
IT SUPPORTS 5G
5G brings faster speeds and more robust connectivity to the new iPhone 12, but as 5G networks aren't yet fully deployed around the world, coverage is still a bit patchy. When it works, it's incredibly fast – we easily managed 200Mpbs on the go – but there are still too many places, even in big cities, where it's hard to get full coverage.
CAN I TURN 5G OFF MY IPHONE 12?
Yes, but is that what Bill Gates wants?
How to turn off 5G on the iPhone 12. Open the Settings app then go to Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Voice & Data and tap LTE. Your phone will then turn off its 5G connection, reverting to (sometimes) slower LTE connection.
If you run out of battery life all of a sudden, don’t panic. The iPhone 12 has a fast charging option that lets you charge your Device up to 50% in just half an hour. But, you have to do it correctly. To charge as fast as you can, you’ll need Apple’s optional 20W charger and the USB-C to Lightning cable that comes with iPhone 12. This lightning port probably won't be available for repair yet at Footscray phone repair, but give it time.
So that’s what that lightning cable is for, everyone was complaining, but now, boom! Phone charged!
